Swing

Is a golf swing analysis worth it?

Absolutely. A swing evaluation helps you understand what's working in your swing and where you can improve. Instead of guessing what to work on, you'll receive feedback and a plan that helps you practice with more purpose.

What is a golf swing evaluation?

A golf swing evaluation is a one-on-one session with a Tee Box The Woodlands coach. During the evaluation, your coach looks at your swing mechanics, movement, and setup while using TrackMan to collect swing and ball data. You'll leave with a better understanding of your swing and recommendations for what to work on next.

What are the most important metrics in golf swing?

Some of the most important swing metrics include club speed, club path, face angle, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and carry distance. Together, they show how your swing affects the ball and help explain why shots travel the way they do.

What are the four critical features of a golf swing?

Grip, stance, posture, and swing path are four of the most important fundamentals of a golf swing. Paying attention to these areas can help you develop a more reliable swing and produce more consistent shots.

How accurate is Tee Box’s swing evaluation?

Your evaluation is based on more than just observation. TrackMan captures detailed swing and ball data during every shot, giving your coach information that isn't visible to the naked eye. This data, combined with a one-on-one evaluation, offers accurate feedback that's based on your unique swing.

Equipment

What should I consider when buying golf clubs?

The best golf clubs are the ones that fit your game. Consider your skill level, swing speed, height, and the types of shots you typically hit. It's also important to consider shaft flex, club length, grip size, and club forgiveness.

Taking these factors into account can help you choose equipment that supports your game now and as you continue to improve.

What golf clubs should beginners buy?

If you're just getting started, a simple set of clubs is all you need. A driver or hybrid, a few mid-irons, a wedge, and a putter will help you learn every part of the game without making club selection feel overwhelming.

As your skills improve, you can add more clubs to your bag based on your game and playing style.

Which brand of golf clubs is the best?

There’s no single “best” brand; there is only the best fit for you. Top brands like Ping, Mizuno, Callaway, and TaylorMade all produce high-quality clubs, but each offers varied features, technologies, and performance benefits that may suit different players.

How much should I spend on golf clubs as a beginner?

A quality beginner set typically costs between $500 and $1,200, depending on the brands and clubs you choose. It's a good idea to set a budget before you start shopping and look for clubs that match your current abilities.

At Tee Box, we'll help you find equipment that fits your game without paying for features you may not need yet.

What is the most forgiving golf club for beginners?

The most forgiving golf clubs for beginners are usually beginner or game-improvement clubs, designed to help golfers hit more consistent shots. Cavity-back irons, hybrids instead of long irons, and high-lofted drivers are all great choices for new players.

What are the 5 most important golf clubs?

If you’re building a basic set or just getting started, the five most important golf clubs to have are:

  1. Driver: For long-distance tee shots
  2. 7-iron: Versatile and great for approach shots
  3. Pitching Wedge: Essential for short game and chipping
  4. Putter: Used on nearly every hole to finish the play
  5. Hybrid or 5-wood: Easier to hit than long irons and great for distance

Are expensive golf clubs actually better?

Expensive golf clubs are designed with advanced materials and features, but those features aren't necessary for every golfer. Choosing clubs that fit your playing style will have a much greater impact than choosing the most expensive model on the shelf.

Tee Box The Woodlands tour icon.

Tour

How long is the tour?

Tours typically take about 15 minutes. Your Golf Pro will give you plenty of time to explore the facility and ask questions along the way.

Do I need to bring anything?

No, you don’t need to bring your clubs or any special equipment for a tour. Just come as you are!

Can I try the equipment during my tour?

Yes! Your Golf Pro can show you how the technology works and allow you to step into a sim bay, hit a few shots, and see tools like TrackMan, Sportsbox AI 3D, and Smart2Move in action.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes! You’re welcome to bring a friend, family member, or fellow golfer along for your tour.

Do I have to sign up after my tour?

No, there’s no obligation to purchase or sign up for any additional services after your tour with us.

Personalized Coaching

Are private golf lessons worth it?

Yes, private golf lessons are very valuable. Through one-on-one coaching, golf instructors can quickly hone in on your strengths, weaknesses, and goals. This allows for a more efficient and effective learning experience. Personalized feedback can help you improve faster and avoid developing bad habits.

How many private lessons do you need to learn golf?

The number of private lessons needed to learn golf varies based on each player's learning pace and level of commitment. Reaching a higher skill level depends on effort and practice time. With focus and determination, players can progress faster and gain confidence on the course.

How often should a beginner take golf lessons?

Beginners should take lessons consistently, with enough time between sessions to practice and build confidence. Staying on a steady schedule helps reinforce new skills and keeps progress moving forward.

What is the best age to learn golf?

Golf is a low-impact sport that anyone can enjoy at any age. It's ideal for all fitness levels and provides physical exercise and mental benefits. Learning golf can enhance focus, reduce stress, and promote overall wellness, making it a rewarding activity for kids, adults, and seniors.

Can you become a good golfer in 6 months?

With dedicated practice and regular lessons, a beginner can make significant progress in 6 months. Consistent practice alongside feedback from a professional instructor can lead to substantial improvement in technique and understanding of the game.

Club Fittings

Should I bring my own clubs?

Yes, bring your own clubs to the fitting. That way, we can establish your baseline and measure changes against it.

If you don’t have clubs yet, don’t worry. We’ll ask you some questions about how you play, set you up with clubs that give us a useful starting point, and use those as your baseline throughout the fitting.

What if my current clubs end up being the right fit?

If your current clubs already work best for you, that’s great, and we’ll tell you. You’ll still leave with a complete assessment of your equipment and greater confidence that the clubs in your bag are helping your game, not limiting it.

Is the club fitting the same as the Golf Performance Assessment?

No, the 60-minute Golf Performance Assessment is the first part of your club fitting and is included at no additional cost. If you’ve already completed an assessment, let us know when you book, and you can move directly into the fitting process.

How long does a club fitting take?

Our club fitting takes about two hours. That includes the 60-minute Golf Performance Assessment at the start.

Why does a club fitting start with a movement screen?

Golf clubs should fit how you naturally swing and what you can consistently repeat. The movement screen gives your Tee Box Pro a clearer picture of how your body moves so they can recommend equipment that works with your swing instead of against it.

Tee Box The Woodlands golf performance assessment icon.

Golf Performance Assessment

What happens during the Golf Performance Assessment?

Your Tee Box Pro evaluates your movement, swing, putting, and current equipment to establish a baseline of your game. Your assessment includes a movement screen, 30-swing analysis using TrackMan, Sportsbox AI 3D, and Smart2Move, a putting evaluation, and a club check.

How long does the assessment take?

Plan for about 60 minutes. Your Tee Box Pro will guide you through each part of the assessment, review your results with you, and recommend where to focus your improvement efforts.

Should I bring my own clubs?

Yes, if you have them. Bringing the clubs you currently play with also allows us to evaluate how well your equipment fits.

If you don’t have clubs yet, don’t worry. We’ll provide what you need to complete the assessment.

Is a Golf Performance Assessment the same thing as a club fitting?

No, but it is the first step we do for club fittings. If you move forward with a club fitting after your assessment, your results are already in Forj, so you won’t need to repeat the same evaluation.

Do I need to be an experienced golfer?

No, the assessment is designed for golfers of all skill levels!
